Canada Work Permit from Kenya

Working in Canada can transform your career and family's future. But it's also where most scams targeting Kenyans happen. We help you understand genuine work permit routes, check job offers, and apply correctly.

Types of Canadian work permits

  • Employer-specific work permit (LMIA): A Canadian employer gets a Labour Market Impact Assessment showing they need to hire from abroad. This is the most common route for Kenyans.
  • LMIA-exempt permits: Includes intra-company transfers and some international agreements. Fewer Kenyans qualify.
  • Open work permits: For certain spouses of students or workers, and Post-Graduation Work Permits after studying in Canada.
  • Care worker pathways: Canada runs home care worker pilots with limited intake windows. We'll tell you when they open.

⚠ Important: In Canada it is illegal for employers to charge workers for an LMIA or a job. If an "agent" asks you to pay for a job offer, it's almost certainly a scam. Send it to us on WhatsApp before you pay anything.

    FAQs

    Work Permit: common questions

Can I get a Canada work permit without a job offer?

Most work permits from outside Canada need a job offer. If you have skilled experience and a degree, Express Entry may be a better route: it gives permanent residence directly, with no job offer needed.

Which jobs in Canada hire Kenyans?

Demand is strong in healthcare (nurses, personal support workers), trades (electricians, welders, truck drivers), agriculture and food processing, and tech. Each still needs an employer willing to hire from abroad.

How do I know if a Canada job offer is real?

Look for a real company you can verify, a real interview, a written offer with salary that matches Canadian wages, and no request for you to pay for the job or LMIA. When in doubt, send it to us.

Can my family come with me?

Often yes. Spouses of skilled workers may qualify for an open work permit, and children can study. Rules depend on your job level, so we'll confirm for your case.
