Who can be sponsored?
- Spouses & partners: married (civil, church, or customary marriage that's legally registered), common-law (12+ months living together) or conjugal partners.
- Dependent children: generally under 22 and not married or in a common-law relationship.
- Parents & grandparents: through the Parents and Grandparents Program (limited invitations each year).
- Super Visa: a multi-entry visa letting parents and grandparents stay up to 5 years per visit. It needs Canadian medical insurance and an income letter from the child or grandchild.
Customary marriages: If you married through ruracio or another customary ceremony, register the marriage and get a marriage certificate. IRCC needs legal proof the marriage is valid in Kenya.

Kenya-specific tips
Show your relationship over time: photos at different events and places with family, not just the wedding day.
Keep M-Pesa, WorldRemit or bank transfer records between you. They're useful evidence of an ongoing relationship.
If you had both a traditional ceremony and a civil marriage, include evidence of both.
Make sure all names and dates match across your ID, passport, birth and marriage certificates. Fix any errors at the registry before applying.
